The GMO Crisis: Politics and Prophecy - an evening with traditional Mayan elders

Tuesday, October 13^th – San Francisco: Join us for a special evening with Kaqchikel Maya elders, Tata Tomas and Tata Cecilio, Day Keepers of the Kaqchikel Maya calendar from Guatemala. Tata Tomas is one of the most revered elders in his native Guatemala, and one of the ceremony leaders at the annual International Gathering of Maya Peoples. Past president of the Kaqchikel Linguistics Institute, Tata Cecilio is a visionary, educated in both western and indigenous ways. These spiritual guides are leaders in the fight against Monsanto's genetically modified organisms (GMO) contamination of native crops, and stewards of traditional Mayan agriculture and food security, essential to Mayan life and ceremonies. They will talk about how this silent tsunami affects not only the survival of the Maya but also our own survival.
